The mission is to stimulate and promote excellence in research, as well as to provide an opportunity for professional and academic development to students interested in cognitive sciences and behavioral medicine.
Students, within this center, have the opportunity to carry out their teaching-learning activity but also research. This would help to better integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills in medical psychology, cognitive psychology, psychopathology and behavioral sciences.
The center will provide students’ access to applied ways of investigating the psychological realities associated with medical issues of interest and will also provide the opportunity to introduce alternative methods of training and practicing specific skills for students.
The basic (main) research we want to coordinate refers to the implementation of neurofeedback therapy, proven effective for behavioral disorders, personality disorders, developmental disorders, sleep disorders, eating disorders, addictions, etc., management stress through the HeartMath (HMI) technique and relaxation techniques, as well as the development of a virtual therapy system.
We intend to collaborate with the disciplines: neurology, psychiatry, genetics, as well as with other research centers.
