Prof. Dr. Bogdan Timar is the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine starting from March 2020, professor of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases in Department VII, Internal Medicine II and doctoral supervisor in the Doctoral School of Medicine of IOSUD UMF “Victor Babeș” from Timisoara.
As Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Timar has as main responsibilities the representation of the Faculty, the management and operative leadership of the faculty as well as the coordination of the educational, development, scientific research and human resources strategy of the faculty.
In the activity carried out since assuming the mandate, Prof. Timar led the international evaluation process of the Medicine study program (internationally accredited by IAAR for the World Federation of Medical Education starting on January 27, 2023) as well as the national accreditation processes of all the programs of study within the Faculty of Medicine. The Dean of the faculty won through the competition and led the implementation of three institutional development programs aimed at improving the insertion in the labor field of the faculty graduates, improving the counseling and career guidance process and reducing the dropout of university studies. It initiated a series of first-of-its-kind extracurricular events, such as the annual “You have decided what you choose for Residency?” event series. and ” The optional fair of the Faculty of Medicine”. Prof. Timar was involved in the implementation of the transition to online and hybrid teaching and assessment methods during the special conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
