Prof. Dr. Cătălin Marian is the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine since March 2020, a Professor of Biochemistry in the Biochemistry and Pharmacology Department, and PhD supervisor in the Doctoral School of Medicine of UMF “Victor Babeș” in Timișoara. In the 2020-2024 mandate he was part of the Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD), and since 2024 he is a member of the Doctoral School Council for Medicine. Prof. Marian is also coordinator of the Erasmus program for the Faculty of Medicine.
In his work since taking office, Prof. Marian has participated in the international evaluation process of the General Medicine study program (internationally accredited by IAAR for the World Federation of Medical Education as of January 27, 2023) as well as the national accreditation processes of certain study programs within the Faculty of Medicine. Prof Marian was part of the team of three institutional development programs granted through national competition which aimed at improving the employability of the Faculty’s graduates, improving the career counseling and guidance process and reducing the dropout rate.
The main activities coordinated are: Analysis of the academic curriculum of the study programs and submitting proposals for its harmonization; Monitoring the content of the subject syllabuses, possible curricular overlaps and making proposals to remedy them; Monitoring the degree of collection of discipline syllabuses within the university departments and clinics; Monitoring the content of the curricula and making proposals for their dynamic adaptation to the regulations in force and to the requirements of the graduates, in accordance with the RIAMEPP; Monitoring the compliance of assessed parameters with the quality assurance standards in force; Analyzing the reports of the student feedback mechanism and submitting proposals for improvement of the educational activity.
