Department II

Department II of the Faculty of Pharmacy within Victor Babeş University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timişoara was founded in 2011.

Department II consists of the following academic departments:

• Pharmacology – Pharmacotherapy – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Codruţa Şoica
• Pharmacognosy – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Corina Danciu
• Pharmaceutical Chemistry – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Cristina Trandafirescu
• Pharmaceutical Technology – coordinator Prof. univ. dr. farm. Lavinia Vlaia
• Organic chemistry – coordinator Assoc. prof. dr. farm. Vincent Vlaia

The human resource within Department II is represented by 26 academic teaching staff and 7 laboratory technicians. Department II within the Faculty of Pharmacy possesses a highly qualified human resource, as well as an ongoing, updated theoretical support that offers comprehensive preparation for future pharmaceutical professionals. In this regard, the curriculum is constantly revised to ensure compliance with European standards.

The disciplines included in the academic departments within department II are integrated in the curriculum of the long-term university study programs (5 years) for the Faculty of Pharmacy (teaching in Romanian and French), as well as in the curricula of the short-term bachelor programs (3 years) for Pharmacy Assistance-Lugoj, respectively Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology.

The teaching staff of this department are also actively involved in:

• scientific research activity (materialized by numerous national and international research grants, through national and international collaborations and by publishing papers in prestigious ISI journals, respectively by participating in national and international conferences),
• postgraduate training activity by supporting postgraduate training, master and residency courses, as well as by preparing students in doctoral studies.
