Pediatric Dentistry Research Center (Pedo-Research)

Currently, the Discipline of Paediatric Dentistry from the Faculty of Dentistry in the UMFVBT carries out research activities within the Pediatric Dentistry Research Center (Pedo-Research) and the VITADENT doctoral research project, which include research activities in the health thematic area, aiming at the development of human resources in priority medical fields at European level, involved in high-performance scientific research and increasing the international visibility of scientific activity in accordance with the Research Strategy of UMFVBT for 2013-2020. The VITADENT project is carried out in collaboration with the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat “King Mihai I of Romania” in Timisoara (USAMVBT), with the approval of the bioethics and ethics of scientific research commissions of both universities and aims to contribute to the development and standardization of diagnostic techniques and therapeutic monitoring of dental pulp diseases in children.

Future research directions include current topics in paediatric dentistry, such as vital pulp therapy and endodontic treatments in primary dentition, design of interception and space maintenance devices, study of acquired enamel hypoplasia and molar-incisor-hypomineralization syndrome, and aim to maintain current collaboration with USAMVBT and the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, as well as to establish lasting collaborative relationships with other partners in the country and abroad, such as University of Ghent, Belgium – Clinic of Pediatric Dentistry & Special Care.
