Name of the research center: DIGITAL AND ADVANCED TECHNIQUE FOR ENDODONTIC, RESTORATIVE AND PROSTHETIC TREATMENT/ acronym TADERP

Director of the research center: Professor Jivănescu Anca, DMD, PhD.

Date of establishment/ acknowledgement: 05.03.2021

Research areas/ research opportunities:

Our research center goal is to create collaboration with other medical and non-medical specialties in order to improve the research activity and results.

One important research subject will focus on digital technologies and biomaterials in dentistry, with all the ramifications that can promote interdisciplinary collaboration with other dentistry disciplines but also with other medical specialties.

The development of computerized systems for the production of dental restorations and the emergence of new ceramic materials have led to important changes in clinical protocol for dentist and dental technicians and also created new treatment options that may be proposed to patients.

We intend to continue the study of trueness and precision of different intraoral scanners, in order to evaluate the margin accuracy of different preparations and thus solve some of the key present-day issues in this highly promising area.

Another important research topic will be focused on the study of new biomaterials for restorations and cementation, in order to promote minimally invasive technique in prosthodontics.

To summarize, some of the most important future research topics will be the following:

  • The study of the accuracy of 3D printed and CAD/CAM (milled) versus traditional complete dentures.
  • The study of the efficiency of digital monitoring of patient’s occlusion during years.
  • The study of marginal fit of newly developed hybrid materials for CAD/CAM technology.
  • The research of the biomechanical properties of CAD/CAM biomaterials.
  • The study of the optical properties of different ceramic materials and the improvement in color reproduction for all ceramic and hybrid chair –side CAD/CAM materials.
  • The study of adhesion and different adhesive protocols for ceramic and hybrid biomaterials restorations. One particular aspect will be the study for improvement of the treatment surface protocol in order to increase the adhesion for all ceramic and hybrid materials.
